Through the formation of this new transatlantic link, business relationships are encouraged to develop and prosper between Alberta and Scotland.
A new Alberta Scottish Business Association launched today (20 February), aiming to build stronger ties between businesses located in Alberta who have an economic, educational or historical relationship with Scotland.
“The historical connections between Scotland and Canada are well-documented,” said Raymond McGovern, Senior Vice President of Scottish Development International (SDI), who helped spearhead the creation of the association. “We are excited about creating better contemporary business links that will be beneficial to companies in both countries.”
“Alberta and Scotland go way back with a rich heritage together, but this new association will seek to forge deeper relationships between modern-day businesses and their leaders,” said Gerry Wood, President of the Wood Automotive Group, who has been named President of the new association. “Our mutual strength in the oil and gas industry is one example of a natural connection to leverage, but we also have common ground when it comes to financial services, technology, creative industries, manufacturing and many other sectors.”
