Regional and Industry Advisory Boards

Regional Advisory Boards

Our five Regional Advisory Boards ensure the private sector and key stakeholders in specific regions continue to have an influential role in our future strategy. They are regionally-based boards advising SE on the best way to maximise the contribution of each region to Scotland’s economic growth, through:

  • ensuring industry alignment and providing strategic direction
  • identification and development of major projects.

They are a source of advice and influence for SE’s Executive Leadership Team on:

  • strategy and policy development
  • industry policy
  • business planning and other processes.

The advisory boards are comprised of up to 18 board members. Membership is primarily from the private sector but also includes partner organisations, such as local authorities and the higher education sector.

The Regional Advisory Board regions and chairs are:

  • Aberdeen City and Shire
Tom Smith, chairman, Nessco Group Holdings Ltd
  • Tayside
Jim McPhillimy, group services director, Scottish and Southern Energy
  • East of Scotland
Colin Stewart, managing director, Citi group
  • West of Scotland
Graeme Waddell, former business director, Rolls Royce Aero Repair and Overhaul
  • South of Scotland
    Gareth Baird, farmer.

Industry Advisory Boards

Building on existing best practice, we’re in the process of developing Industry Advisory Boards for each of the key industries.

These boards will inform how we can contribute to the growth of each industry, based on real demands and growth potential. They will be responsible for developing robust industry strategies and identifying the roles of the private and public sector in delivering those strategies.

Each Industry Advisory Board will be led by industry leaders. They will consist of up to 15 board members, including:

  • industry representatives,
  • Scottish Enterprise or Scottish Government representatives, and
  • a member of a relevant Regional Advisory Board.
