Laws and regulations
An established regulatory framework
Industry regulation in Scotland, and throughout the whole of the United Kingdom, is the responsibility of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) whose aim is to promote efficient, orderly and fair financial markets and help retail financial service consumers get a fair deal. The FSA regulates most financial markets including banking, insurance, mortgages and asset management; exchanges, and firms involved in manufacturing, selling and administering financial services products and services.
The FSA produces a Handbook of rules and guidance for all authorised firms carrying out business in the UK.
