Publication scheme
The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002:
- gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities;
- sets out exemptions from that right; and
- places a number of obligations on public authorities.
Anyone who asks a public authority for information is entitled to receive that information, subject to some exemptions.
Under the Act, we must produce and maintain a 'publication scheme' setting out the classes of information we publish or intend to publish, how we publish it, and whether it is available free of charge or for payment.
Our publication scheme has been approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner, who is responsible for enforcing the Act. We have to review our scheme from time to time. In adopting (or reviewing) our publication scheme, we have to consider the public interest in:
- allowing public access to information we hold; and
- the publication of reasons for the decisions we make.
This is the publication scheme of Scottish Enterprise. It is intended to provide a guide for our customers and the general public to the information available from us.
We will be revising the publication scheme in the near future and would welcome your feedback on how it can be improved.
