Forest industries strategy

Our strategy concentrates on growing the Scottish forestry industry by 30 per cent over the next ten to 15 years.

We aim to secure major processing investment throughout the supply chain including paper, sawmilling and bio-energy, whilst competing in a global market. We will also continue to embrace opportunities within the bio-energy market and sustainability agenda in addition to developing forest tourism to achieve economic growth.

In collaboration with the Scottish Forest Industries Cluster, a group of all of the stakeholders in the sector, our priorities are to develop:

knowledge;
new products and markets;
the network; and
links with the wider community.
