What are Research and Development (R&D) tax credits?
R&D tax credits can reduce your tax bill or provide a cash sum for some small to medium-sized companies (SMEs).
If your company has received a grant that is a 'State aid' recognised by the European Commission, you can't claim anything under the R&D tax credits SME Scheme. You may be able to claim under the Large Company Scheme instead but the rate of tax relief is lower and you can't convert the relief into payable tax credits.
