RSA is available on the same basis to companies whether they are indigenous or foreign-owned but the project must take place in Scotland. Different levels of RSA are available depending on your location and the size of your business. All sizes of company can seek assistance within tiers 1 and 2 but only small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in tier 3.

Grants for projects in the Scottish Highlands and Islands are usually administered by Highlands and Islands Enterprise
Grants for companies based overseas are administered by Scottish Development International
Powers to offer RSA in Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas are under Section 8 of the Enterprise and New Towns (Scotland) Act 1990 and Article 13 of the EC General Block Exemption Regulation (EC) No 800/2008.
Powers to offer RSA to small and medium sized enterprises are under Section 8 of the Enterprise and New Towns (Scotland) Act 1990 and Article 15 of the EC General Block Exemption Regulation (EC) No 800/2008.
