New offshore wind project funding call announced

Date: 05 October 2011

Scottish Enterprise is looking to support project ideas that can reduce the cost of producing energy from offshore wind, and/or speed up the deployment of offshore wind installations.

The large-scale development of offshore wind is the biggest current opportunity for sustained economic growth in Scotland. However, the key industry challenges being faced are the need to cut costs, reduce risk and uncertainty, and the necessity for mass deployment to meet ambitious policy targets.

Through recent marketing foresighting, Scottish Enterprise has found that key opportunities may exist to address these challenges by looking at the design, installation, operation and maintenance of current wind turbines.

Scottish Enterprise is looking for project ideas from companies and academia that address the key industry challenges.

The closing date for expressions of interest under this call is 18 November 2011.
