Edinburgh-based, Deliverics, have won the title of Nexxus Most Promising Young Life Science Company of the Year. The company impressed judges with its rapid growth and demand for its services.

The life sciences company spun out of the University of Edinburgh in 2010 after receiving a Proof of Concept award, and is now on a journey to become a global business.

The company had a first year turnover of £400,000 and has recently secured a major European distribution deal. A new spin-out company has also been formed, LIPItec, based around technology developed by Deliverics, which has potential in the pharmaceutical industry.

Through engagement with our High Growth Start Up team, the company:

  • Launched in 2010 with the help of Proof of Concept support
  • Got its first product, Safectin, to market in November 2010 with support from the Scottish Investment Bank’s Scottish Seed Fund and a SMART:SCOTLAND feasibility award
  • Released its second core product, SAFEctin Stem, in July 2011 with a Technology Strategy Board (TSB) award
  • Significantly grew its sales and marketing strategy with the placement of a Saltire Fellowship for three months
  • Plans to further expand its international offering, specifically in the US market, by engaging with Globalscots
