Does your project have room for a graduate?

Date: 01 November 2011

If you’re struggling to find the time and resources for that all-important project, the TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme could help you recruit a recent graduate to inject fresh thinking, the latest skills and appropriate knowledge into your fixed term assignment.

The TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme will work with you from role definition, candidate attraction, screening, and shortlisting right up to training your successful graduate. Projects can last from 3 to 12 months.

Your new recruit will also have access to free residential training, including modules on strategic planning, sales and marketing, with guest speakers from the business world to give practical insight. The graduate will then be able to embed this learning back into your project when they return.

One company to have benefited from the programme is canned seafood manufacturer International Fish Canners Ltd, who took on graduate Barney in a trainee manager role.

They found the Graduate Placement Programme helped open up the search to a much wider audience of well-qualified candidates.

“It is a huge benefit to us there is an organisation out there that can market our graduate position to a vast number of students that we would not have access to,” said a company spokesperson.

Graduates are targeted to suit our specification and shortlisted before being presented to us. Additionally, the support mechanism and training has given further benefits to our organisation.”
