Scottish Enterprise’s latest quarterly review of the companies it works with most closely found that almost two-thirds of Scottish businesses saw an increase in turnover in the previous six months.

Our review of account managed companies in the final quarter of 2011-12 also found that almost half reported an increase in employment and 40 per cent saw an increase in operating profits.

We work with almost 2000 companies with significant growth potential through our account management process.

This involves working intensively with a company’s management team to understand its growth opportunities and support it to achieve these better and faster than would otherwise have been possible.

These results have been announced as we publis our latest evidence base, which we use to underpin our Business Plan activities.

The evidence base, which is constantly updated, looks at economic data and reports, feedback from companies and evaluations and assessments of current business activity.

The intelligence gathered in this informs our policy and strategy to drive business growth.
