A new foresighting report - 'Materialising a Brighter Future', published by Scottish Enterprise, summarises seven advanced materials themes and identifies potential areas for development of the industry in Scotland.

These include smart packaging, composites, photonic materials for the low carbon economy, sustainable construction materials, coatings and surface treatments and membrane and battery materials.

The Material Innovation Service was launched alongside the foresighting report to help Scottish businesses identify how advanced materials could benefit them as well as assist them in adopting the technology.

The service aims to help identify commercial opportunities, find the right collaboration partners in the field and access the relevant support from within Scottish Enterprise.
