Apply for additional funding

Proof of Concept (PoC) Project teams applying for additional funding can approach the Project Review Panel.

Additional funding is made for one of two reasons:

  • The project is to be reviewed by the Panel having reached a milestone/gate review point for continuation funding (in other words projects funded from Round 7 onwards).
  • To ensure that a commercial outcome is achieved for a Proof of Concept Programme (PoCP) project in circumstances where such an outcome would not be achieved without the additional funding (in other words projects funded pre-Round 7).

As guidance, teams can request funding for:

  • staff costs
  • patents
  • market assessment activities
  • equipment/consumables

If further funding is required, is your project pre-Round 7, or post Round 7?

Pre Round 7 – Proposals must demonstrate: Round 7 and beyond – Proposals must demonstrate:
  • Short durations (less than six months)
  • Applications have been made for other funds
  • Monthly Project Management Group (PMG) meetings
  • Commercialisation cannot be achieved without this funding
  • Project is technically successful
  • IP protected
  • Strong policy on equity ownership
  • Clear funding route post-PoCP
  • Appropriate durations to achieve next major milestone/end of project (up to 12 months)
  • Commercialisation progress has been made
  • Quarterly Project Management Group (PMG) meetings
  • Commercialisation is possible post-PoCP, in other words no funding gap
  • Project is meeting technical milestones to date
  • IP protected
  • Strong policy on equity ownership
  • Potential post-PoCP funding routes identified
