Approvals within delegated authority
The following projects were approved within delegated authority during the period 23 March to 27 April 2006. The details are provided below.
Invitrogen’s consolidation and expansion in Scotland
Invitrogen is a global life sciences service company and is the world leader in cell banking and safety testing. SE has been working with the company over the last year to develop a strategy to secure their expansion in Scotland and the consolidation of 3 Scottish sites into a single location. That strategy is now in place.
The Chief Executive approved the property interventions comprising of income of £2.26 million and expenditure of £2.2 million, excluding recoverable VAT and £0.405 million for training support.
Business Improvement Team
Approval of £1,170,000 has been granted to ensure contractor continuity within the Business Improvement Team for up to a maximum of six months.
Scottish Co-investment Fund Investments over £250,000
Cascade Technologies Ltd
The Investment Team has approved the sum of £499,999 to be invested in Cascade Technologies Limited by way of A Ordinary Shares. Cascade uses quantum cascade laser technology to provide products that create instant DNA fingerprints of gases enabling their presence and quantity to be detected.
