Approvals within delegated authority
The following projects were approved within delegated authority during the period 15 June to 16 August. The details are provided below
Operations
Global Companies Development Programme
Approval was granted for expenditure of £970,000 to continue the Growing Companies Development Programme for a further three years from April 2007.
Place Infrastructure and Policy
Approval of £400,000 of funding was given for the Scotland Connect “Routes” Project. The strategy is to be delivered by the Scottish Executive, VisitScotland and Scottish Enterprise, with SE leading on the Long Haul Initiative component of this strategy which aims to further enhance Scotland’s intercontinental links, particularly to the key Asian economic growth regions of China. This project will be funded by the Scottish Executive.
Property Technical Business Unit
Competitive Place was granted approval for funding of £257,029 for competent technical support to provide processing of design and graphical materials to their customers, principally Scottish Development International, in pursuit of Foreign Direct Investment. The anticipated cost to implement the proposals includes a 2 year contract, potentially extendable by 1 year, subject to review.
Scottish Co-investment Fund Investments over £250,000
Lamellar Biomedical
The Investment Team has approved the sum of £425,000 to be invested in Lamellar Biomedical by way of ordinary shares. Lamellar Biomedical researches into the properties of Lamellar Bodies, the development of synthetic lamellar bodies and their manufacture together with research and development of applications for synthetic lamellar bodies for medical use.
Personal Wellbeing Ltd
The Investment Team has approved the sum of £500,000 to be invested in Personal Wellbeing Ltd by way of ordinary shares. Personal Wellbeing Ltd develops and sells a range of non-diagnostic cancer detection devices.
NetlDme Ltd
The Investment Team has approved the sum of £250,000 to be invested in NetlDme Ltd by way of ordinary shares. NetlDme Ltd develops and sells software relating to identity verification on the internet in particular for potential application to internet chat rooms used by children.
Inxstor Ltd
The Investment Team has approved the sum of £299,136 to be invested in Inxstor Ltd by way of ordinary shares. Inxstor Ltd develops and designs ‘place shifting’ technology for the remote viewing of television and other media services.
