Approvals within delegated authority

The following projects were approved within delegated authority during October and November 2004. The details are provided below.

Careers Scotland Property Strategy

The Chief Executive granted approval for expenditure of £3 million (£1.5 million for 05/06 and a further £1.5 million 06/07) to Careers Scotland to cover fit outs, dilapidation, professional fees and other migration costs involved in the rationalisation of Careers Scotland properties.

Capital Streets

Approval was given by the Chief Executive for a revision to the terms of approval for Capital Streets, approved by the SE Board in June 2003. This involves the transfer of funds, indicatively £5.56 million, originally identified for public realm improvements in George Street to be redirected to enable the Grassmarket to receive a similar level and quality of upgrade.

Ciba Speciality Chemicals Ltd

The Chief Executive granted approval to SE Renfrewshire for a contribution of £1.475 million towards a £5.9 million research and development project proposed by Ciba Speciality Chemicals. The main aim of the project is to increase the level of innovation and business research and development in Scotland to support new processes and product development.

Business Gateway - Advertising

The Senior Director Customer Relations approved an increase of £56,500 to the above project, taking the total project approval to £596,500. This would allow increased advertising to assist the LECs in their efforts to achieve enquiry and start up targets.
