Approvals within delegated authority
The following projects were approved within delegated authority during the period 21 September to 26 October 2006. The details are provided below.
Interactive University
The Chief Executive approved additional funding of £200,000 to this project, taking cumulative project funding to £3,900,000. The project was originally approved by the SE Board in April 2002 with further funding approved in May 2004. The Interactive University was established as a central resource for Scottish academic institutions to convert traditional programmes into world class e-learning products for sale globally. The project is included within the current Operating Plan.
Scottish Construction Innovation and Excellence Centre
Approval was granted by the Chief Executive for funding of £2.7 million over 5 years for the above project to establish a Scottish Construction Innovation and Excellence Centre. The total funding package will be £17, 218,000 which consists of a calculated industry contribution of £4,518,000 and anticipated research income of £10 million. Highland and Islands Enterprise will also contribute a further £270,000 for services within their area. The project is included within the current Operating Plan.
Inchinnan Business Park
Approval was granted to Competitive Place for the sale of Block 105, Inchinnan Business Park, Inchinnan at a cost of £963,000. It is proposed that the property should be sold to the sitting tenant Peak Scientific Instruments Ltd.
Careers Scotland
Approval was granted to Skills & Learning for funding of £1.5 million for the Careers Scotland de-merger to ensure deliverables, as agreed by the Scottish Executive, are achieved by April 2007 to inform the process of separation.
