Approvals within delegated authority

The following projects were approved within delegated authority in September 2004. The details are provided below.

Faulds Park, Gourock - Amazon Funding

The Chief Executive granted approval to SE Renfrewshire for approval of £168,000 of additional expenditure to the above project to facilitate dilapidation works and other improvements to complete the project and allow occupation of facilities by Amazon.co.uk. Due to savings elsewhere the net additional approval was £88,000. Total expenditure of the project is now £2,098,000.

Gartcosh Stage 3 Development Programme – SE(03)84

The Chief Executive approved additional expenditure of £293,750 above the previously authorised total of £5,769,250 to SE Lanarkshire for the above project. The additional funding would allow upgrading to sewerage works.

BIA Capacity Building

The Director of Competitive Business and Clusters approved expenditure of £225,000 inclusive of VAT to the Life Sciences Cluster over a 3 year period to support 2 new members of staff in the Bio Industry Association Scotland (BIAS) Offices to improve their capacity as a trade body to support the Life Sciences industry in Scotland.

Careers Scotland Marketing Project

The Senior Director Customer Relations approved expenditure of £450,000 to assist the delivery of a range of marketing activities to enhance the visibility of the Careers Scotland brand and increase the uptake of its products and services at a national and local level.

Broadband Access Programme Information and Intelligence

The Senior Director Operations (West) approved expenditure of £260,000 for information and intelligence to support the Broadband Access Programme, including KMAP maintenance and use, weekly statistics, Equifax and next generation research.

Virtual Component Exchange

Approval was given by the Senior Director Skills and Learning (on behalf of the Senior Director Operations East) to the purchase of VCX Software Ltd by Beach Solutions Ltd This provides SE with an exit from VCX that could, at some time in the future, produce a positive return on the resulting investment in Beach shares.
