Animal Health concerns veterinary medicine and microbiology to diagnose and control pathogens that affect animal health, meat quality and food safety.
The Division of Animal Health and Welfare was created in 2004 and as well as incorporating the Sir Alexander Robertson Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine, covers the disciplines of diagnostic and clinical pathology, epidemiology, animal welfare, husbandry and nutrition. It has 40 academic members of staff and has a vibrant community of around 30 research postgraduate students. Research income to this division in 2003/04 was in the region of £2 million.
