Imaging techniques enable doctors to make more accurate diagnosis and be more specific at the site of treatment.
Clinical Research Imaging Centre
Operational from 2008, this new centre will combine 3-T whole-body magnetic resonance imaging with positron emission, computed tomographic imaging and a cyclotron.
The Collaborative Optical Spectroscopy Micromanipulation & Imaging Centre (COSMIC)
COSMIC provides visualisation technology and advanced computing facilities for image process and analysis. Works in collaboration with biological scientists in live-cell imaging and imaging of molecular interactions. COSMIC has a unique and impressive optical equipment base used to image, trap, manipulate, probe and measure the properties of molecules, including advanced conofocal and multi-photon microscopes, optical tweezers, ultrafast mode-locked tuneable lasers, spectrometers, and detection systems.
The SFC Brain Imaging Research Centre for Scotland
Ongoing major research areas - strokes, schizophrenia, ageing and dementia, brain tumours and other common disorders. More recently the Centre provides image assessment for studies of the affects of treatment for pituitary tumours and acute strokes.
