Record year for Edinburgh The University of Edinburgh has strengthened its position as Scotland's leading research institution by earning a record £210 million to fund its research in 2006/07 – an increase of 50 percent on last year.

Heriot Watt is one of the leading UK universities, with an international reputation for innovative education, enterprise and leading edge but practical research.

Heriot-Watt is recognised internationally as a centre for high calibre research in science, engineering, business management, languages and textile design.

Over 40 University and privately owned businesses and commercial services operate on the Edinburgh campus. A condition being that all of these tenants must be able to display the potential for interaction with one of the University's Schools. Therefore the University is well serviced with collaborative working with commercial organisations internally. Heriot Watt also works closely on specific research projects with multinational companies including BAE Systems and CISRO Petroleum.
