The Moredun Research Institute (MRI) is internationally recognised for its work on infectious diseases of sheep and other ruminants.
MRI is located in a purpose-built international research centre at the hub of Pentlands Science Park.
Research at MRI spans all levels of biological organisation, from molecular through cellular, tissue, organ, whole animal and population studies.
Today, most farms will regularly use medicines and vaccines that have either been researched, developed or tested at the Foundations' own Moredun Research Institute. Moredun's work has a national impact on livestock disease. To date it has; identified the cause of 18 diseases, characterised the pathogenesis of 23 diseases, developed 12 vaccines of which 8 are marketed, implementedtreatment strategies for 12 diseases and provided surveillance for 36 diseases.
With around 7,000 members and supporters throughout the UK and abroad, The Moredun Foundation can constantly disseminate information on breakthroughs made in animal disease research, with farmers, vets, students and agriculturalists.
