In response to Scotland’s high prevalence of cardiovascular disease, the biomedical community has developed a long-standing record of excellence in cardiovascular research and associated epidemiology. Four universities have specialised cardiovascular units within their accompanying hospitals.

In fact, many Scottish clinicians have made a significant impact in the development of medical practice across the world. In addition, the well documented stable patient population makes Scotland an ideal location to conduct clinical trials.
