Auvation Ltd
Auvation is a biotechnology company specialising in thedevelopment of innovative technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

It's flagship Cytochrome P450 technology combines identification of new tumour cell therapeutic targets with strategies for increasing chemotherapeutic efficacy.

Auvation also produce novel anti-angiogenic agents, and are developing approaches to preventing tumour spread by inhibiting the invasiveness of cancerous cells.

Crusade Laboratories
Crusade have developed the herpes simplex virus (HSV) for cancer therapy. The mutant virus HSV 1716 is in phase 1 trials for glioblastoma and melanoma.

They also have second and third generation derivatives of HSV 1716 are in development, combining oncolytic potential with chemotherapy and targeted radiotherapy.

Cyclacel
Cyclacel is a biotechnology company using cell cycle biology and rational drug design chemistry to develop novel cancer therapeutics.

Developments include:

• small molecule CDK inhibitors CYC200 and CYC400;
• Penetratin® small molecule complexes (CYC300);
• Pimetic™ small molecules mimicking natural cancer suppressing genes (CYC100); and,

Their Polgen division is a world-first effort to validate, develop assays and discover drugs arising from over 100 genomic targets regulating cancer cell mitosis. Research collaborations to identify and in-license novel anticancer agents.

Scottish Biomedical is a drug discovery service organisation which designs, builds and project manages complex multi-disciplinary research programmes.

It matches research needs of commercial organisations with talented research teams.

Lamellar Therapeutics
Lamellar is developing a novel anti-cancer therapy based on exposing patients' own immune cells to tumour antigen.

It is testing its product on the presentation of tumour antigen to patients' cells, in conjunction with an American company that specialises in the discovery of tumour antigen.

Geron Bio-Med
Geron Bio-Med is a UK subsidiary of Geron Corporation. Its focus on discovery and development of products for oncology and regenerative medicine.

Viragen
Viragen develops natural and recombinant protein-based drugs, and have a manufacturing facility Edinburgh.

The product portfolio includes:

• Natural Human Alpha Interferon – Multiferon™; and
• treatment for a wide range of viral and malignant diseases, including hepatitis C and cancer.
