Rural development
Our role in rural areas can be summarised as:
- Delivering the Enterprise, Innovation and Investment agenda in rural Scotland by:
- working closely with growth companies in rural areas through our Account Managers;
- increasing business investment in R&D, attracting more high value jobs in support of priority industries;
- supporting knowledge sharing between Scottish companies and academic institutions; and
- attracting increased investment from the private sector in projects to improve business infrastructure regionally and nationally.
- Supporting rural growth and economically important businesses to improve productivity through business development and workforce/ organisational development.
- Supporting rural economic diversification with a focus on Scotland’s priority industries.
- Implement strategic operational agreements with key rural private sector partners and stakeholders with a focus on enterprise and innovation, and the contribution of Scotland’s natural assets to economic growth. The partners involved include the Scottish Estates Business Group, The Scottish Rural Property Business Association, NFU Scotland and also HIE and the two national parks.
- To provide appropriate support to the 2007-2013 LEADER programme by supporting projects relating to priority industries, innovation and collaboration.
