Find funding and support
While there are no specific schemes in operation to provide financial support to developing companies in the digital markets sector, there is a range of non-industry specific financial assistance programmes which all types of business are able to utilise. We are responsible for managing some of these programmes and can provide guidance, support and access to others.
SMART: Scotland
SMART: Scotland is intended to help small businesses to improve their competitiveness by developing new, highly innovative and commercially viable products or processes to the benefit of the national economy.
The scheme is a competition open to individuals planning to start a new business and to existing small independent firms and groups with less than 50 employees.

General research and development grants
General research and development grants are open to firms of all sizes, and are available for any innovative development. They are designed to help with the research and development of commercially viable products and processes that are new to the business but not necessarily innovative at a national level.
There is no upper or lower limit to the amount of grant. For grants of less than £40,000, support of up to 35 per cent is available. Larger grants attract up to 25 per cent support, but must demonstrate positive impact on research and development jobs in Scotland.
Both single-company and collaborative projects that also involve public sector research organisations can be supported.
