Energy Technology Centre

The Energy Technology Centre provides a wide range of equipment and resources for developing, testing and demonstrating small-scale renewable and sustainable energy systems.

You can use the centre to help realise the commercial potential of new energy-related products and technologies.

With an increased demand for efficient, renewable and sustainable energy sources, the Energy Technology Centre can help developers of both stationary and transport applications, by bringing together specialist facilities, equipment, suppliers and expertise to support the commercialisation of new energy technology and products.

Small-scale and distributed energy systems have a key role to play in making energy production more efficient, while minimising carbon dioxide production. These technologies include “micro” combined heat and power (CHP), small wind systems, fuel cells and solar applications. Within the transport sector, the industry is increasingly focused on energy-efficient and reduced emission engine development and the development of electric, hybrid and fuel cell powered vehicles.

The Energy Technology Centre exists to help develop and test these systems, and provides a centrally-located facility, with the infrastructure, capacity, resources and expertise to transform advances in technology into innovative commercial products.

You can use the centre on a flexible basis, with differing equipment, support and signposting, depending on the type of project.
