Aerospace, defence and marine is one of Scotland’s highest value industry sectors, directly employing nearly 40,000 staff. It is a dynamic and successful, high technology sector operating in a truly global market place.
We have brought together industry leaders, stakeholders and government to form an Industry Advisory Group which acts to provide advice and guidance on the needs of the sector. The principal task of the Industry Advisory Group was the development of a strategy and action plan, setting out our shared commitment to securing and growing Scotland’s position in the global aerospace, defence and marine industries.
The plan aims to encourage greater collaboration between the public, private and academic sectors, increase research and development activity, particularly involving Scotland’s small to medium sized enterprise sector, and to further develop the industry’s highly skilled and motivated workforce. Its aim is to create an environment in which the aerospace, defence and marine sector can grow and prosper and contribute even more to Scotland’s economy.
