Energetica
Energetica aims to create the world’s greatest concentration of energy technology companies, housing and leisure facilities between Peterhead and Aberdeen.
Energetica is a public-private partnership, designed to position the north east as a global energy hub. It aims to create the world’s greatest concentration of energy technology companies, housing and leisure facilities along a 30-mile coastal strip between, stretching from Bridge of Don in Aberdeen to Peterhead.
Scottish Enterprise is leading the development of Energetica on behalf of Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Future (ACSEF).
The corridor will have three distinct parts:
The Eco Hub
Largely centred on the area between Bridge of Don, where the Aberdeen Science Parks are located, and Dyce would be the main business area, attracting leading-edge science, technology and research businesses that focus on the energy sector
The Green Heart
Situated around Ellon and Newburgh and would see investment in the natural environment, including some new forestation to provide a biomass resource, with modest developments to provide housing in attractively landscaped settings
The Northern Gateway
Situated at the entry into Peterhead, this area will be dramatically improved with a renewed identity and playing to the strengths of the existing infrastructure. Peterhead could become a centre for offshore decommissioning and subsea developments that will increasingly play a role in the growth of the marine renewable sector.
