The award of the multi-million pound contract from the Ministry of Defence was a major achievement for Babcock Marine, at Rosyth. Winning these significant new orders also led to a realisation that, to successfully handle the increased workload, they would need to improve their working practices.

Scottish Investment Bank to provide loan funds to support business growth
First Minister Alex Salmond has announced plans to develop a new £50 million loan fund to help growing Scottish businesses. The fund is scheduled to be open for business by the end of 2010. It will provide loans from £250k to £2m and, exceptionally, more for longer established, viable firms already demonstrating significant growth and/or firms exporting a significant proportion of their output from Scotland.
