Scottish Development International (SDI) helps foreign companies invest and thrive in Scotland, and local enterprises make the most of international trade and global markets.
The difference you’ll make
As part of the High Growth Markets Unit, you’ll inspire Scottish companies to do business in China. Through large-scale events, seminars and one-to-one meetings, you’ll help companies prepare to enter the market. You’ll give advice on the resources and budgets they’ll need, and the common issues they’re likely to face.
You’ll be the bridge between Scotland and China. You’ll work closely with Scottish Enterprise account managers, SDI international business advisers and the SDI team in China. The aim is to make sure that Scottish companies get the right preparation to enter the Chinese market.
The qualities you’ll bring
An expert in Chinese markets, you’ll know the ins and outs of doing business there. You’ll have direct experience of how Chinese companies work, from legal considerations through to local customs. Building productive working relationships with Scottish and Chinese businesses will be essential, so you’ll know how to maintain an effective network of contacts.
You can be based at any Scottish Enterprise office in Scotland, and you’ll need to travel abroad occasionally. You’ll be a confident presenter and communicator and be fluent in Mandarin. Above all, you’ll know how rewarding it can be to do business in China, and you’ll have the passion and expertise to encourage Scottish companies to get out there.
SDI are not offering sponsorship for this role. Candidates will only be eligible if they personally have the right to live and work in the UK. See GOV.UK for more information.
