Export Mentoring Programme

Want to help unlock Scotland's export potential? We're seeking mentors and mentees to join our Export Mentoring Programme. Discover the rewards of peer-to-peer mentoring through our matchmaking service.

Unlocking Scotland's export potential

Experience tell us, companies that trade internationally tend to be more innovative, more productive and more competitive. Also, businesses and economies that operate across a range of markets tend to be more resilient and less vulnerable to economic shocks.

Supporting more of Scotland’s companies to internationalise is critical to a sustainable economic future. That's why we’re working in partnership with the Scottish Government and leading business group CBI Scotland, to help unlock Scotland’s export potential.

Mobilising networks

In the latest Pursuing Prosperity report, CBI Scotland identified improving exporting as one of the key drivers for boosting productivity across Scotland. Business can’t achieve that alone. We're here to support companies across Scotland to make the most of international market opportunities.

We plan to mobilise our networks, including GlobalScot and CBI's members, to help deliver 300 business peer-to-peer mentorships over the next three years to increase awareness of the benefits of exporting and help ramp-up overseas activity.

Helping new exporters learn from experienced ones

We're inviting you to consider participating in our Export Mentoring Programme, either as a mentor or mentee, according to your business needs and your exporting experience.

These measures are part of a package backed by £20 million investment announced as part of the Programme for Government, unveiled in November 2018 by First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.

They come as the latest statistics show Scottish exports of goods increased 7% to £28.8 billion over the past year to June 2018 – the fastest rate of growth of any country in the UK.
