Energy trade mission to Egypt and EGYPS 2019

9 to 14 February 2019

Registration open

Explore energy opportunities for your business on our trade mission to Egypt and the Egypt Petroleum Show, EGYPS 2019. Registration is now open for support to join our Scottish delegation and promote your oil and gas business in Egypt.

Why Egypt?

Egypt's oil and gas market

This visit to Egypt will include opportunities to build relationships with Egypt's oil and gas sector as well as exhibit as part of the Scottish pavilion at EGYPS 2019.

Egypt is one of the fastest growing offshore oil and gas markets in the Middle East. Direct investment within the oil and gas sector within current financial year is estimated to be 10 billion USD. Egypt is also continuing its oil and gas modernisation programme.

Egypt plays a vital role in international energy market through the operation of Suez Canal and Suez-Mediterranean (SUMED) Pipeline. Prominent pipeline networks are also currently planned.

Petrochemical and refinery capacity

Egypt has the largest refinery capacity in Africa, at a nominal of 840,000 barrels per day. The government is currently up-dating existing refineries. An expansion of existing refinery has recently started at estimated costs of around 1.6 billion USD. A five year plan to develop the Egypt petrochemical sector is also underway.

Scotland pavilion at EGYPS 2019

As part of this trade mission, you'll have the opportunity to exhibit as part of the Scotland Pavilion at Egypt Petroleum Show, EGYPS 2019 - one of the main oil and gas events in the region.

Bob Dudley, group chief executive of BP, said about EGYPS:

“BP invested more money in Egypt last year (2017) than in any other country in the world and this year we’re investing another billion or so. The change in the EGYPS conference from just a year ago is amazing – the numbers are close to double this year and I believe it’s now the largest oil and gas exhibition in North Africa.”

The Scotland Pavilion at this year's event will act as base for participating companies. You'll have access to a dedicated meeting room, meeting tables, a store room and a kitchen. Each participating company will be considered as a full exhibitor, and your company name and contact details will appear in the exhibition catalogue.

SDI will also produce a trade mission brochure with details of participating companies. Each company will be allocated one page with details of company products, services. This brochure will be distributed electronically and hard copies will be available at the Scotland pavilion.
