Scottish Enterprise (SE) is Scotland’s national economic development agency. We help Scottish businesses to grow nationally and internationally, to become more efficient and innovative, and to access the funds they need to develop. We also attract overseas companies to invest in Scotland.

We’re looking for a qualified accountant to join the Corporate Planning and Performance team within our finance department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in management accounting to help support financial decision-making at all levels of Scottish Enterprise.

The difference you'll make

Working with team leaders and senior management from across the organisation, you’ll ensure SE continues to achieve a balanced budget position. You’ll identify and assess financial and budgetary risks, assist with the formulation of budget plans and provide management information reports, reviewing and monitoring performance throughout the financial year.

Working as a Business Partner, you’ll provide extensive guidance to operational staff, helping them to effectively plan, monitor and manage the financial and performance aspects of a wide range of projects.

The team receive a high volume of finance-based requests from both internal and external parties, so you’ll also help prepare responses to these including Scottish Government and Freedom of Information requests.

You’ll play a key role in the ongoing development of SE’s financial reporting framework, including developing tailored reports on the different layers of our operation.

The qualities you'll bring

You’re a problem solver with a positive attitude and a meticulous attention to detail. Using superb written and verbal communication skills, you’re able to create strong relationships with colleagues and customers, maintaining an open and timely flow of information.

You’ll have a strong understanding of economic development, with experience in business planning and prioritisation of resources. Flexible and adaptable, you’re comfortable dealing with high volumes of data, often from different sources and systems.

You must be a member of Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB) institute, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants or an overseas equivalent.
