Location: Flexible across Scottish Enterprise offices in Scotland

Grade: 6
Duration: Permanent

Job ref no: R00162

Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s national economic development agency and a non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government.

In order to deliver a significant, lasting effect on the Scottish economy, we work with partners in the public and private sectors to find and exploit the best opportunities.

It's our job to grow the Scottish economy for the benefit of all, creating more quality jobs and a brighter future in every region.

We’re looking for an experienced communications and corporate affairs professional to join our Corporate Affairs team.

In the role, you'll further our focus on building awareness and understanding of issues and opportunities impacting the Scottish economy, and the role our organisation plays in supporting green and inclusive economic growth.

The difference you'll make

As a key part of our communications and corporate engagement team, you'll help manage the organisation’s reputation among key audiences, including the media, government, partners, key influencers and critics.

You’ll respond to media enquiries and coordinate communications activities such as press announcements and social media campaigns.

You’ll also be the go-to contact for communications advice and will help us share complex data and information both proactively and reactively as and when it’s required. As a key point of contact for our transparent communications agenda, you’ll also help manage freedom of information enquiries.

It’s crucial that you develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant media contacts, partners and influencers to increase public awareness of the role and our positive impact on life in Scotland.

The qualities you’ll bring

Managing a diverse range of stakeholders is one of your core strengths, and your excellent interpersonal skills mean you’re comfortable building strong relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders and partner organisations.

You’ll also have strong working knowledge of FOISA, including a detailed understanding of the legislation and how it applies to public bodies in Scotland.

A strong sense of news value, political awareness and issues management is important – as well as knowledge of issues facing the Scottish economy.

It’s crucial that you can confidently present complex information in a clear and concise manner. Experience of analysing and interpreting insights for reporting purposes is a must.

Time spent working with government, contacts in Scottish media, and a knowledge of social media would all be helpful, but not essential.

You may occasionally need to attend events outside normal office hours.

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please submit your application by Friday 22 October 2021.
