Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s national economic development agency and a non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government.

To deliver a significant, lasting effect on the Scottish economy, we work with partners in the public and private sectors to find and exploit the best opportunities.

Scottish Enterprise is committed to growing the Scottish economy for the benefit of all, creating more quality jobs and a brighter future in every region.

We’re looking for an experienced communications and corporate affairs professional to join Scottish Enterprise’s Corporate Affairs team.

We’re focused on building awareness and understanding of issues and opportunities impacting the Scottish economy and the role our organisation plays in supporting green and inclusive economic growth.

The difference you'll make

You’ll be a key part of our Communications and Corporate Engagement team, helping to manage the organisation’s reputation with key external audiences – including the government, the Scottish Parliament, partners, key influencers and opinion formers.

You’ll design and deliver support materials and briefing documents to be used by senior strategic relationship leads. This will involve writing and distributing tailored corporate communications materials to stakeholders, and also dealing with and responding to enquiries – including those from elected members.

You’ll lead and facilitate the work to identify and optimise good engagement practice by sharing learnings and insights. You’ll also develop and maintain our peer group intranet space and discussions forum.

With your insights on engagement, you’ll update the team on developments within our strategic stakeholder organisations and the wider economic development landscape.

It’s crucial that you develop and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally including with partners and influencers to help increase public awareness of the role of Scottish Enterprise and our positive impact on life in Scotland.

The qualities you’ll bring

You will have a strong working knowledge and understanding of Scottish Enterprise’s key stakeholders. You should have proven capability of designing as well as delivering stakeholder and communications plans and campaigns.

Your excellent interpersonal skills will mean you’re comfortable building strong relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, and partner organisations.

A strong sense of news value, political awareness and issues management is important – alongside knowledge of issues facing the Scottish economy.

It’s crucial that you can confidently present complex information in a clear and concise manner for both internal and external audiences. Experience of analysing and interpreting insights for reporting purposes is a must.

Time spent working with government, an understanding of the Scottish Parliament, and knowledge of social media would all be helpful but aren't essential.

You may occasionally need to attend events outside of normal office hours.

How to apply
