Job Title: Future Healthcare Manufacturing Specialist

Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s national economic development agency and a non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government.

To deliver a significant, lasting effect on the Scottish economy, we work with partners in the public and private sectors to find and exploit the best opportunities. Scottish Enterprise is committed to growing the Scottish economy for the benefit of all, creating more quality jobs and a brighter future in every region.

We’re seeking a committed specialist to develop our Future Healthcare Manufacturing programme and help grow Scotland’s Life Sciences sector. The programme covers the manufacturing of a diverse range of products, including drugs, diagnostic instruments and medical devices.

With Scotland-based organisations playing a significant role in the fight against Covid-19, this area has seen accelerated growth recently.

You’ll lead a programme to make sure these opportunities are captured and benefit Scotland’s economy.

The difference you'll make

You’ll bring knowledge of the life science industry to help identify new areas of manufacturing growth and any barriers restricting that growth. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll develop and deliver a range of initiatives to help the industry grow.

This involves primary and secondary research to assess emerging areas of market opportunity and identify Scotland’s competitive advantages. You will then use this insight to develop our strategy.

Building relationships is crucial, and you’ll regularly engage with senior stakeholders, partners from the industry, NHS, academic institutions, Scottish and UK government, and Scottish Development International.

You’ll also work closely with colleagues across Scottish Enterprise and partner organisations to develop a programme of activity, while actively supporting the objectives of the high value manufacturing team.

The qualities you’ll bring

You’ll be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, such as life sciences, chemistry, or high technology. A strong understanding in at least one of these areas is essential.

A natural communicator, you’ll be comfortable networking and influencing senior stakeholders – especially when it comes to presenting information, both internally and externally.

You should have experience conducting market or technology analyses in a relevant sector and be confident analysing quantitative and qualitative information sets.

Ideally, we’d like someone with a track record of strategy development for industry or public sector. Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and project management, especially in strategic communications, would be useful.

How to apply

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please submit your application by Tuesday 29 October 2021.

  • 1st stage interviews will take place w/c 8 November 2021
