Scottish Development International (SDI) helps international companies invest and thrive in Scotland, and supports Scottish companies to trade in global markets.

SDI’s Capital Investment Team are seeking a motivated Investor Relations Manager to promote project opportunities in strategically important sectors.

We're committed to an investment-led recovery for Scotland. And this new role will help attract capital aligned to our values as a nation – driving green investment and facilitating sustainable growth for the Scottish economy.

The difference you'll make

As Investor Relations Manager you will define key investment criteria, identify potential investors, and then support senior colleagues in developing and maintaining relationships with key investors that match the profile of our opportunities portfolio.

Our portfolio covers multiple sectors and products. Working as part of a small team, you will be responsible for understanding these capital investment opportunities and promoting them to potential investors.

Stakeholder engagement will be central to the role. As the face of the investor relations team, you will provide feedback on investor sentiment to project sponsors that will help to inform our policies.
Your insights and ideas will help shape the strategic plans we will use to effectively engage with investors.

The qualities you'll bring

We’re looking for someone with solid investment experience from a financial services, commercial advisory, or project development role. You'll have a good commercial understanding of how investment transactions are funded, ideally in the energy (low carbon) and infrastructure sectors. Whatever your background, your first-rate communication and influencing skills will mean you’re comfortable building strategic relationships.

You’ll also be up-to-speed on good relationship management practices, and happy using our CRM systems to maintain records on active relationships.

Crucially, you'll be confident working on high profile initiatives, collaborating with partners, and balancing priorities across multiple projects. Good financial acumen with strong numeracy and analytical skills are a must when it comes to appraising capital investment activity.

Because we work with international partners in different time zones, you will occasionally need to work outside normal office hours. Your role will also include foreign travel to attend events and meet investors.

COVID-19 update

This role is temporarily remote due to COVID-19.

Due to the current global pandemic all of our people are currently working remotely. We will continue to follow government guidance to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, partners and customers. The selection process will also be undertaken virtually.
