About the role

Our finance team is made up of a diverse group of specialists working to support the smooth running of the organisation. Their focus includes effective financial management, the utilisation of European funding, and the development of Scottish Enterprise’s risk management policies and processes.

If successful, you'll work with our Scotland Europa team, carrying out a range of clerical duties within standard procedures. You'll develop a broad understanding of financial routines and processes.

You will usually be working with a team to deliver against an agreed plan, but some planning and organising of your own work may be required to ensure deadlines are met and the department runs smoothly.

Essential skills, abilities and experience

Typically, you would have to gain the knowledge needed for this job through study (National 4/5, Standard Grades, GCSEs, Highers or vocational qualifications) and previous experience in a similar post.

However, this is a development role. This means that, if you're the right candidate, we'll give you the chance to improve your skills on the job. 

You'll have - or be able to develop - the ability to:

  • Provide administrative and supportive services (preparing standard documents and information, organising arrangements and bookings, running straightforward reports) which help the team operate smoothly 
  • Establish the basic facts in situations, perform standard checks (filling out standard forms, data entry, updating and filing straightforward data and records) and inform others when necessary
  • Gather and analyse data using predetermined procedures (running database reports, extracting relevant data, carrying out database searches, cross-checking more complex data)
  • Perform data entry into Scottish Enterprise documents and systems as required  
  • Take up filing and archive management activities  
  • Undertake information and data organisation, as well as collation activities  
  • Follow rules set by others and escalate decisions according to specified rules
  • Communicate with others outside of the team to exchange information and keep people informed, so that work is completed effectively
