Job title: Loan Specialist
Salary: £42,276

Scottish Enterprise (SE) is Scotland’s national economic development agency and a non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government. To deliver a significant, lasting effect on the Scottish economy, we work with partners in the public and private sectors to find and exploit the best opportunities. Scottish Enterprise is committed to growing the Scottish economy for the benefit of all, creating more quality jobs and a brighter future in every region.

We are now looking for a Loan Specialist to work with the Debt Team and who can help make a difference to our economy by supporting one growth-focused business at a time.

The difference you'll make

The Scottish Loan Scheme (SLS) supports qualifying companies with funds of up to £2 million. You’ll support members of the Debt Team in stimulating demand for the SLS as they build relationships with businesses, intermediaries and funders.

You’ll help assess whether companies meet eligibility criteria from both a commercial and economic impact perspective. You’ll then provide timely, informed feedback, and update companies on their application status. Part of this will involve preparing internal approval papers with your colleagues, and working closely with our external solicitors to prepare loan and security documentation.

You’ll support your colleagues at several steps of the process for new loan applications – from the initial appraisal and diligence, through to structuring the loan and assisting in the portfolio management of existing loans.

The qualities you'll bring

You’ll be educated to degree level or hold an appropriate professional qualification in accountancy, banking or investment.

Your numeracy and financial acumen will be backed by strong communication and time management skills. You’ll be comfortable challenging decisions where appropriate, and able to deal with sensitive situations with ease.

You’ll need to drive to meetings and events when it is safe to do so, so you will need a driver’s license and access to a car.

Interviews

  • 1st stage interviews will take place on 4 August 2021
  • 2nd stage interviews will take place on 11 August 2021

Covid-19 update

This role is temporarily remote due to Covid-19.

Due to the current global pandemic all of our people are currently working remotely. We will continue to follow government guidance to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, partners and customers. The selection process will also be undertaken virtually.
