Scottish Development International (SDI) helps international companies invest and thrive in Scotland and supports Scottish companies to trade in global markets.

SDI’s Capital Investment Team are seeking a highly motivated Project Origination Manager to identify and assess investment opportunities and report on their suitability/credibility for promotion and to produce collateral ready for investor engagement.

We are committed to an investment-led recovery for Scotland, and this new role will help attract capital flows aligned to our values as a nation – driving green investment and facilitating sustainable growth for the Scottish economy.

The difference you'll make

You'll identify and shape the pipeline of new viable and investable projects that we present to the world’s investment community as capital investment opportunities for Scotland. You will stay on top of the latest data on global capital activity and look out for ways in which Scotland’s assets could yield new opportunities. You’ll make these into compelling and attractive investment propositions.

As part of the development process, you will engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to determine key opportunities that align with our strategic aims – and how we can promote them to a targeted range of UK and overseas investors.

With a range of opportunities in the pipeline (both physical and company investment opportunities), it will be up to you to effectively manage the portfolio across multiple sectors and product types – enhancing the assessment process and building fruitful relationships with project sponsors.

Using your knowledge of our portfolio, you'll also make recommendations on financial or advisory inputs that may be required to support the investment case.

The qualities you'll bring

We need someone with sound analytical and financial acumen and strong networking and relationship building skills – ideally with a degree in finance, accountancy, or a related discipline. You will bring a sound understanding of strategic government policies, and how those priorities drive requirements, strategies, operational and transactional methods for securing inward capital investment.

You’ll need a proven ability to not only understand complex commercial transactions, but to assess the underlying data that drives effective decision-making in assessing whether new propositions are commercially viable to be of interest to Capital Investors. Crucially, you must be able to then break this information down and present it to stakeholders in a way that is easy to understand.

Confident at building relationships, influencing partners, and balancing priorities across multiple projects, you will help get the most from our resources.

Because we work with international partners in different time zones, you will occasionally need to work outside normal office hours. Your role may also include foreign travel to attend events and meet investors.

COVID-19 update

This role is temporarily remote due to COVID-19.

Due to the current global pandemic all of our people are currently working remotely. We will continue to follow government guidance to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, partners and customers. The selection process will also be undertaken virtually.
