We're looking for a talented Account Manager to join our Business Growth team. In this role, you'll help ambitious Scottish businesses to:

  • Grow domestically and expand into international markets
  • Become more efficient, sustainable, and innovative
  • Develop new products and services
  • Attract new investment
  • Develop strong leadership teams and adopt fair and progressive work practices
  • Build and sustain robust financial management practices

You'll also be involved in attracting foreign-owned companies to invest in Scotland.

The role

Successful applicants will work with ambitious companies to support growth and deliver economic benefits for Scotland.

Building relationships at a senior level, you’ll provide support and advice to growing SMEs on a range of strategic challenges, from investment and finance to innovation and leadership.

Working as part of a team, you’ll bring in specialists from across our organisation and our partners, to help those companies achieve success.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding companies’ requirements by building relationships at a senior level
  • Understanding what we can offer, and bring those resources to projects
  • Spotting problems or opportunities and offering solutions 
  • Reviewing company expectations and appropriately challenging or influencing decisions
  • Gathering and managing information for our internal systems 
  • Focussing on delivering project outcomes and continuous improvement of the businesses 

Who we're looking for

You'll have experience in a commercial, corporate, economic development, marketing or finance role in the private sector, and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues that growing companies face.

An excellent relationship manager, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, you'll be able to influence at a senior level.

You'll be comfortable developing strategic plans using diagnostic and analytical tools and have experience managing projects and co-ordinating internal teams. 

Your existing business networks will enhance your effectiveness and you will have a working knowledge of economic development principles, along with our own goals.

Your solid business experience and understanding of best practice is key to building trust. You’ll be able to work with companies as an honest broker, addressing a broad range of business challenges in a range of sectors.
