Join Scottish Enterprise’s award-winning Internal Audit Shared Service team. We deliver the full suite of internal audit services to a partnership of five of Scotland’s key public sector organisations: Scottish Enterprise, South of Scotland Enterprise, Clyde Gateway, Skills Development Scotland, and the Scottish Funding Council.

We’re looking for an ambitious, skilled and experienced Lead Auditor to join our team, delivering internal audit services across the shared service partner organisations.

The role

You’ll lead delivery of a full range of internal audit services including planned and ad-hoc audits, investigations, and special assignments across all the shared service partner organisations.

You’ll add value by undertaking audit assignments in line with professional standards, as set out in the International Internal Audit Standards and UK Public Sector Internal Audit Standards. You will plan, manage and deliver audit assignments, providing independent and objective assurance to operational management, senior management and the relevant Audit and Risk/Assurance Committee of each partner Board.

You'll help each partner organisation accomplish its objectives by bringing a professional, systematic, disciplined approach to the risk management, control and governance processes. A key element of the role is building and maintaining excellent relationships with auditees across partner organisations.

Who we're looking for

The following skills, abilities and experience are desirable for this role:

  • Possess or are currently working towards a professional internal audit or accountancy qualification (e.g. Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors) or other appropriate body (e.g. Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy).
  • Significant demonstrable experience of developing and applying modern agile, risk based internal audit approaches and techniques.
  • Proven experience of negotiating and communicating with senior management.
  • High levels of understanding of corporate governance and risk and control environments.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a complex and demanding workload that leads to high quality written outputs for board members and leaders across the organisation.
  • A Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable individual with a curious and inquisitive mindset.
