What's involved?

EIF is a discretionary fund, with projects assessed on a case by case basis. If you think your project might fit the bill, talk to the team early. The sooner we know, the more we can help.

What types of finance are available?

The fund can provide flexible loans and equity investments, all on fully commercial terms.

Can the fund support R&D projects?

No, the fund is designed to support projects at the test or commercialisation phase. Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise have separate funds for R&D projects.

Is there a deadline for applications?

Priority will be given to submissions received by 20 July 2018, however depending on the level of interest, submissions received after 20 July 2018 may also be considered.

If you're unable to submit your expression of interest prior to 20 July 2018, we recommend that you contact the EIF team to discuss at the earliest opportunity.

Current funding is allocated until 31 March 2019. However, projects which are seeking funding for drawdown after 31 March 2019 are also encouraged to discuss funding options directly with the EIF team.

What if I’m not eligible?

There are other funding schemes that may be alternatives, or complementary, to EIF. We would be happy to discuss these with you. We can work with you to shape your project appropriately.
