What can Make it to Market be used for?

The Make it to Market grant can be used for a range of activities that will help you get ready to export abroad. These need to be new activities (not something you’re already working on), and your product or service must be beyond research and close to market.

Activities you can use the grant for include:

  • Making updates to your products and packaging to suit your market or meet regulations. This can include translation of packaging.
  • Researching international market opportunities, customers and routes to market
  • Product-based market research, including development of samples
  • Professional guidance on overseas contracts with suppliers, intermediaries or manufacturers
  • External expert advice on technical feasibility or product modification
  • Protecting your Intellectual property (IP), including licensing and brand protection (excluding registration fees). IP-related costs must have an international focus and cannot make up more than 50% of the total eligible project costs.
  • Visiting the local market for customer feedback and development. Overseas travel costs cannot make up more than 20% of the total eligible project costs.
  • Market launch of your product/service and local launch promotion
