Poland – offshore wind export opportunity summary 

The Baltic Sea is an emerging European offshore wind market and Poland has the potential to become its biggest construction site.  

As of summer 2023, the first offshore wind projects in Poland were in the latter stages of development and pre-construction phase. Industry experts are predicting the first projects will be operational from 2026. 

Scale of export opportunity 

The Polish Energy Policy 2040, published in 2021, stated that Poland is going to install 5.9 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and 11 GW by 2040.

There is potential for these targets to be increased to close to 12GW and 18GW respectively as draft amendments to the Renewable Energy Act are under consideration.
