Sealing and closure technologies

Main Content

A global manufacturer is interested in expanding its knowledge and expertise in sealing and closure technologies for a range of commercial products.

The seal or closure must be:

  • Efficiently and accurately produced in a high speed manufacturing environment (or have the potential to be with development, either as an on-line or off-line process)
  • Watertight
  • Robust
  • Reliable
  • Stable for a minimum of 2 years
  • Food safe

Possible approaches may include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical methods
  • Chemical methods
  • Heat or light technologies
  • Adhesive technologies

Potential sealing or closure technologies must be suitable for a high speed manufacturing environment and be compatible with stainless steel and anodised aluminium manufacturing equipment.

Ideas can be at any stage of development from proof of concept through to being commercialised, with a clear preference for beneficial approaches which are close to “ready for use” now.

Solutions will be selected based on their cost benefits, effectiveness and ease of implementation and management in a manufacturing environment.

At this time, please only share non-confidential information.  For more information or to propose a potential solution, contact Jillian Moffat, Head of Open Innovation at Scottish Enterprise.

The closing date for this challenge is 3pm UK time on Friday 11th May 2018.
