Gaelic Language Plan consultation (closed)

Our Gaelic language plan consultation is now closed. The feedback we received was considered before we submitted our final draft plan to Bòrd na Gàidhlig on 27 January 2022 for approval. A report summarising the findings of the consultation was submitted to the Bòrd at the same time.

We've finished consulting on the development of our first Gaelic Language Plan, as required by the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005. The Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005 was passed by the Scottish Parliament to secure the status of the Gaelic language as an official language of Scotland, commanding equal respect to the English language.

One of the key features of the 2005 Act is the provision enabling Bòrd na Gàidhlig to require public authorities to prepare a Gaelic Language Plan. These plans are seen to be crucial to achieving the mainstreaming of Gaelic as part of the day-to-day fabric of modern Scottish life.

We submitted our final draft plan, as well as a summary of the findings of the consultation, to Bòrd na Gàidhlig on 27 January 2022 for approval.

Our draft plan

Our draft Gaelic Language Plan supports the aim of the National Gaelic Language Plan 2018-23 that Gaelic should be used more often, by more people and in a wider range of situations.

Our plan sets out a series of commitments where we'll look to deliver progress under each of the following three areas:

  • Increasing the use of Gaelic within our organisation and encouraging more people to use Gaelic, more often when they interact with us
  • Increasing the opportunity to learn Gaelic within our organisation
  • Promoting a positive image of Gaelic whenever we can as part of our day-to-day operations as an organisation

Co-chomhairleachadh air a’ Phlana Ghàidhlig

Tha sinn a’ co-chomhairleachadh air leasachadh a’ chiad Phlana Gàidhlig againn. Tha ar dreachd plana a’ cur taic ri amas Plana Nàiseanta na Gàidhlig 2018-23 gum bu chòir a’ Ghàidhlig a bhith air a cleachdadh nas trice, le barrachd dhaoine agus ann an raon nas fharsainge de shuidheachaidhean. Feuch gun leugh sibh an làn fhiosrachadh sa phlana againn agus cuiribh thugainn ur beachdan.

  • Cothrom air Gàidhlig ionnsachadh a mheudachadh taobh a-staigh ar buidhne
  • Ìomhaigh dheimhinneach don Ghàidhlig adhartachadh nuair as urrainn dhuinn, mar phàirt de ar n-obrachaidhean mar bhuidheann
