Be part of building Scotland's future

Scottish Enterprise is Scotland's national and international economic development agency. We work to transform the Scottish economy by helping businesses to innovate and scale. The opportunity

Scottish Enterprise is on a mission – a grand challenge to support Scotland’s energy transition and help companies find their place in growing renewables markets. By 2030, we aim to have helped create a globally competitive renewable energy industry in Scotland. We want to double the number of Scotland’s energy transition companies, create 44,000 new jobs and secure £1.5 billion in exports annually.  We can think big like this, because we have a strong team – one that you could play your part in on this graduate development programme.

The role

You’ll hit the ground running in our busy Clean Heat team giving us critical team support for grid connectivity, new energy systems and storage. Your role sits at the core of our team, juggling our schedules and priorities and helping us build on our existing knowledge base. But you won’t just be talking to us – you’ll be speaking to grid operators and developers to troubleshoot problems and support them as they make moves to increase renewable energy generation and decarbonisation. With your help, we’ll work towards making Scotland a global leader in the energy sector – one that creates jobs and blazes a trail for innovation and manufacturing across Scotland’s regions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and managing team activities so we deliver on time
  • Recording data, maintaining spreadsheets and producing data reports to support analysis and research projects
  • Contributing to regular progress reports for our project team

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for project managers who aren’t put off by complex spreadsheets or research reports. Our ideal candidates thrive in bringing calm and order to busy people at all levels and thinking fast to keep the team on track. You’ve got big ideas to support our team – we’re all about ideas. We also value enthusiasm – you’ll have lots of that for our energy transition mission. In return, we’ll support you to learn new skills and experience everything that Scottish Enterprise has to offer while you’re on your placement.

You’ll bring:

  • Qualifications or skills and experience at SCQF Level 9 as a minimum, e.g. BA/Ordinary Degree, Graduate Diploma or SVQ at SCQF Level 9 (ideally in law, business or finance)
  • Project management skills
  • Clear communication
  • Multitasking across multiple teams
  • Good deadline management

What we offer

If successful, you'll gain access to the following benefits:

  • Membership of the Scottish Enterprise Pension and Life Assurance Scheme – a pension based on your final pensionable salary, flexible retirement options and generous life assurance cover
  • Up to 43 annual leave days a year (including public holidays), with the opportunity to buy additional holidays
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A health cash plan
  • Our Employee Retail Benefits Scheme
  • Our Employee Assistance Scheme
