Be part of building Scotland’s future
Looking to lead innovative projects, further develop your Microsoft technologies expertise, and drive digital transformation?
You’ll do all this and more as a Power Platform Technical Specialist at Scottish Enterprise.
You’ll be in charge of developing and implementing enterprise-level applications that power our business processes and improve experiences for our customers. You’ll have a direct impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of our digital services, equipping colleagues everywhere to perform at their best.
The role
Providing technical subject matter expertise on complex projects and change initiatives, you’ll work closely with the Lead Developer to devise suitable design processes for a variety of technical business challenges. You’ll also assist and influence other technical team members, cross-functional leads, and business stakeholders.
With time, you could potentially manage a small team: identifying the skill sets and resourcing needed to achieve project outcomes, ensuring SLAs and estimates are met, mentoring colleagues, and managing competing demands. You’ll also contribute to and implement changes in our delivery and support service functions and processes, promoting awareness of technical standards and principles and evolving these
to better fit the needs of people and departments across Scottish Enterprise.
This role is aligned to the DDAT level of Senior Developer (see the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework on the gov.uk siteopens in a new window), but with a focus on Power Platform and no/low code.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing and managing relevant technical documents for the systems application lifecycle
- Maintaining best practices for platform administration and monitoring
- Identifying warning signs when things threaten to go wrong with software delivery, and taking the appropriate action to remedy issues
- Working closely with other functions across our Digital Factory and DDIT to make sure system integrations are secure and stable, and service management issues are resolved quickly
Who we’re looking for
A proactive problem solver who can spot warning signs of issues with software delivery and take action to address them, you’ll have strong communication skills, be passionate about digital delivery, have a data-driven approach, and be able to see the bigger picture while managing and prioritising iterative developments.
Success in this role needs a combination of:
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise-level applications built on the Power Platform (including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, and Power Virtual Agents).
- Proficiency in configuring and using Microsoft Dataverse, and deploying Dynamics 365 applications.
- Appropriate Microsoft certifications to evidence your expertise.
- Experience using advanced customisation techniques using JavaScript and Typescript, serverside development such as plug-ins, and developing reusable components using the Power Platform Framework.
- A solid understanding of iterative software development and application lifecycle management
- Experience managing or mentoring a team and working in agile environments.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar tools for CI/CD and backlog/progress tracking
Ideally, but not essentially, you’ll also have:
- Experience with the wider Microsoft 365 platform including SharePoint, Forms and Teams.
- Experience in configuring and deploying Power BI solutions.
- Experience using bespoke Microsoft Azure cloud services like Logic Apps and Function Apps.
